  • POSTED: 23/10/2025

AquaExchange was established in 2020 in Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It provides full stack solutions to aquaculture farmers and other ecosystem players such as processing plants and hatcheries. AquaExchange has automated more than 50,000 acres of shrimp farms and as such is the largest technology provider to shrimp farmers in India. All of AquaExchange’s solutions hinge on the technology (IoT & AI) tools the company offers the farmers to save crops, reduce cost of production and increase profitability.

Why GDST?
AquaExchange became a GDST partner in Dec 2024. The role that is being played by GDST in terms of standardizing the traceability communication protocols inspired us to join GDST.

Why Digital Seafood Traceability Matters
As more and more end buyers of seafood are expecting and demanding for more accurate traceability, we firmly believe any measures undertaken towards improving traceability shall only improve the demand for Seafood and shall increase the demand for the product which is essential for the aquaculture farmers to prosper.

How GDST helps to Address Challenges
AquaExchange has developed a suite of IoT products which are being utilized by a large section of aquaculture farmers on a daily basis to save their crops and improve their yields. Such devices have also enabled one of the most accurate and scalable ways of capturing and transmitting traceability data. GDST is helping us in standardizing the terminology utilized and also in aligning our data formats with that of international customers.

Contributing to the GDST Standard
AquaExchange is contributing to the GDST standards by providing solutions (aligned with GDST standards) in order to capture and transmit accurate traceability data all the way from the hatcheries and farms to the processing plants and onwards in the value chain.

Impact of GDST on the Business
GDST has helped us benchmark our data capture terminology and formats with those of the international customers.

Long-Term Goals
The long-term aim is for all the value chain players to speak the same traceability language, wherein data generated by any node anywhere in the value-chain can be transmitted as-is to any other value chain player.

Advice for Potential GDST Partners
We firmly believe that all solutions providers should be part of this group, as it will help the entire value chain speak the same language and in turn increase the overall demand for seafood.
