Timothy Grotheer, Vice President of Information Technology at the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA), has been named to the Cybersecurity Association of the Food Industry (CSAFI) as a Board Advisor for Global Seafood Cyber Resilience.
Tim leads technology strategy for one of the most respected standard-setting organizations in the global seafood industry, overseeing infrastructure, security and operations in a hybrid environment spanning Portsmouth, New Hampshire and international partners. He simultaneously serves as Chair of the Technical Council at the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) the international multi-stakeholder initiative setting interoperability standards for the entire seafood supply chain.
Tim’s foundation in software engineering, cloud-native architecture, and NIST-compliant security frameworks built through leadership roles at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and multiple technology organizations means he understands cyber risk not as an abstract board-level concern but as a living, breathing reality on the plant floor.
His appointment to lead CSAFI’s Global Seafood Industry Resilience Board is a watershed moment. The seafood sector spanning aquaculture, processing, cold-chain logistics, and international distribution is one of the most digitally complex and yet not well cyber-protected sub-sectors in the global food industry. His unique position inside the industry’s own standards infrastructure means he can drive change from the inside out.
“Protecting the seafood ecosystem requires the convergence of operational leadership and advanced technology strategy. The seafood supply chain cannot wait for a major incident to wake it up, the time to build resilience is now.”
— Timothy Grotheer, Board Advisor – Global Seafood Cyber Resilience, CSAFI
Tim will support CSAFI initiatives across seafood-sector threat intelligence sharing, third-party supply chain risk, responsible AI adoption, workforce readiness and industry standards advocacy effectively help CSAFI building the world’s first community-driven cybersecurity resilience program purpose-built for seafood producers and distributors.
